THE LITTLE THINGS…

OK, today we’re back to discussing the little things that we can do that make a huge difference. With the COVID19 pandemic, I think, now, more than ever, we are realizing the power that lies in our own two hands. Making little changes/doing little things in everyday life are making huge impacts on a global scale.

So, here are some little things we can do or are already doing… and I would love to hear about what you guys are doing and the rest of us can learn from.

(1) 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐮𝐜𝐞𝐭… when brushing your teeth, applying soap when showering, scrubbing your dishes, washing your hands. These simple acts can save many gallons of water per day, and thereby conserve water on a global scale.

(2) Using a 𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐥/𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐭𝐡 instead of single use paper towels.

(3) Using 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 instead of bottled water

(4) Buying stuff you need 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝… books, decorative pieces, maybe even clothes and jewelry.

(5) 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 instead of buying them (if it is a one time read)

(6) 𝐔𝐧𝐩𝐥𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐬 when not in use.

(7) 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 on your monitor.

(8) 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 with one that dispenses less water

(9)𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠… My father puts a few buckets outside when it rains (mostly just below the roof drain)… Sample. He then uses this water later for our backyard garden.

(10) When not urgent, 𝐨𝐩𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 “𝟐-𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠”

(11) 𝐎𝐩𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐦 𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐥… not just spam snail mail. YES, email also uses energy.

(12) 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬 for kids? (I don’t know how difficult this would be, so I won’t comment further)

(13) 𝐑𝐞𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 (ditto about convenience… even I find this very difficult)

(14) 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 when you leave the room

(15) 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠… do you want it or do you need it?

I am sure that there are many more little things that we could be doing. Do you guys have any to share?
